We cannot expect someone who is not walking with Jesus to act like Jesus. They cannot be held to same standard. But on the flip side if we confess Jesus as Lord our lives should reflect Jesus.
Our spiritual life must be the priority and focus of all we do and Jesus must be our standard of living.
2 Corinthians 3:18 TPT says, “we all become like mirrors who brightly reflect the glory of the Lord Jesus. We are being transfigured into His very image as we move from one brighter level of glory to another.” The key word is MOVE. We must live with purpose and focus allowing every aspect of our lives to be filtered through the example of Jesus.
We have a responsibility to partner with God’s grace, which empowers us, and pursue holiness. 2 Corinthians 7:1 NIV says it clearly, “let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.”
It can be easy to put our spiritual life on cruise control and think we are living good enough but until we look like Jesus there is always progress to be made.
